Racegraph Noyes Equation(Beta)

Dennis Noyes is an esteemed member of the international motorcycle road racing punditosphere who currently writes articles for Speedtv.com and is an announcer for TVE's Moto GP broadcast in Spain. If there is anyone who has a deep and nuanced understanding of moto road racing it is he.

In a casual chat on Twitter, Señor Noyes shared his method for estimating where a rider will finish in the weekend's race, based on his sector times in practice. It is a simple equation that averages the 4 best sector times and adds the averages to equal a race pace. In 2010 this equation was good enough to predict the winners of 80% of the races. Since Racegraph already has lap times and sector times, I just created a table using his calculation here.
